It’s been described as “’The Fugitive’ with Baggage." “Runaway” is (or was) the story of a family living on the lam -- Dad has been wrongly accused of a crime he didn’t commit and can’t leave his family behind while he attempts to prove his innocence. And so began a saga that had great protential, however derivative.
It debuted on the Deathwatch at Number 21 out of 24, with odds of cancellation at 238. In the course of the last several weeks, it dropped to number 11, (odds 54:1) and back down to number 15 as of yesterday (odds 131:1) This morning, a report at hollywoodreporter.com revealed that the CW had called it quits.
It appears that as the fugitive family continued to find a place to land, so did the audience, and eventually, everyone stopped caring.
What did you think of the show? Furthermore, what is your take on "The CW" as a network?

OK, I tried to watch this show. Back in the day I used to be a big New Kids fan. I even met the former New Kid bad boy back then. But the show just was too slow. It just could grab by attention. I am sorry, but I am not surprised,

I thought Runaway was more hype than substance. I believe that the "CW" should give a long look at reviving "Everwood". It had a small, but loyal following and there seems to be more of a focus on some of the mindless comedies, "Girlfriends", "The Game" and of course wrestling, than the good dramas that the WB had more solidly produced. There could/should have been a stronger integration of solid "WB" shows, other than this mish-mash of mediocrity that the UPN has brought to the table, with the exceptions of "Chris" and "Veronica". Yeah, bring back "Everwood" and "Reba" and what about the much touted "Aquaman". Although there is a fantasy/comic book premise to much of the "WB" based programs, they seem to seamlessly integrate current events and everyday real emotions and drama.

I wanted to vote for "Runaway", because this was a show I thought I would love and I gave up on it after two episodes, but "Runaway" didn't appear on the list of shows for which I could vote. Is there some super secret way of voting for something other than the top 10 that appear on the home page?

I really think the CW should bring in Aquaman... it would probably do better in ratings than Runaway and fans of smallville will be happy too.. at least i know i would

I liked the show but once it was moved to Sunday this week I knew it was done for. How can you put a show against Desperate Housewives and expect it to survive. It just showed the CW had no real interest in the show. I have a feeling they will cancel 7th Heavon soon. SAd to see a show I liked go.

Yippie! A show got cancelled the week I picked it, finally. :) Cannot give comments on the show, never watched it. I am very upset with the CW for letting Everwood slip away and I refused to watch what replaced it. The CW has not done anything great yet, for me. Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven (the latter should be in a TV graveyard somewhere) are just so-so, Smallville and Supernatural are pretty good, but all the CW shows are dropping on my DVR priority list (I used to always watch WB's shows before the other networks.) I still watch them... just not the same day (or even week) they air. I'd rather watch Heroes and Shark. I have found a new show in Veronica Mars, which is pretty good...but I'm a little out of the loop since I never watched it before. Chris and The Game are funny, watch them occassionally, but How I Met Your Mother is the only sitcom I watch religiously. Have absolutely no interest in the model show or wrestling.

I agree with Beth when she wrote that she didn't know that 'Runaway' was on the Deathwatch. How do u find shows that are not on the top 10 list? As for Mel's comments re: Veronica Mars, you can catch up on the past season by going to marsinvestigation.com. It is a very informative site which not only gives a detailed synopsis of each episode, but u can get tidbits on each character and their relationship to other characters. So please take a look so that u can catch up and start really enjoying this show.

Not on topic, but hope this can still be posted... Thanks Erika for the web site, I will definetly check that out! I was hoping to return the favor by helping you find the rest of the shows to vote for, but I don't quite understand the problem--you should be able to scroll down and see ALL of the shows on the deathwatch page. You may want to check for any Flash updates, its probably something with your browser keeping you from seeing everything.
And since I'm already off topic, I have another sidebar. The thing I was really disappointed with the creation of the CW network was saying good bye to the WB's website, I thought it was the BEST TV network site. I haven't really spent time at the CW site yet, been hanging out here instead...

I didn't know this was cancelled until right now, when I saw it wasn't highlighted for my dvr to record. I really liked this show, it is the only thing I watch on the cw. But since they moved it to sunday, I have been recording it while I watch Desperate Housewives live. Is there anyway to get the episodes that will never air?

I knew this one was a goner. First of all, the viewers are supposed to care about "The Fugitive" character...worry about whether or not he will evade his chaser again this week...have a concern in the back of your mind that maybe...just MAYBE...he did actually commit the crime. Any guy who would bring his FAMILY along for the ride though? Complete loser. Viewers just didn't care very much about him. Horrible premise. Horrible show. A show about attractive kids moving to a new town? That could probably work.

I'm sad to see Runaway go. Some plot points in the episodes did sag, the father did make some stupid choices, but overall it was a good show. It was nice to watch something on CW that didn't continue the trend of uninteresting and unoriginal teenage dramas. (though the overall plot wasn't that original for Runaway, it was enough) Now I'm left with only Supernatural to watch on that channel. The things that killed Runaway was putting it against 7th Heaven and other top shows, lack of the usual teenage drama to keep it intresting (they tried on this one, but no cigar), and changeing showtimes. It was a intresting show and if they had put it where it was just attractive kids moving to a new town (ponytail87's comment) it would just add to the other unorignal shows. Besides, deep down most tv watchers want to watch angsty sex scenes, the usual volience, and unrealstic descriptions of teenage life. As sabrina posted, I would love to see the unaired episodes, but this probably will not happen. I knew they were going to cancel this show, now I'm just waiting for them to cancel Supernatural.

I was so sad to see Runaway go. I looked forward to it every week and also very sad to see Everwood gone... they should have kept that on instead of 7th Heaven. 7th Heaven is kind of lame now. I think they should bring both, Runaway and Everwood back. The new CW doesn't seem to know what they are doing. I think they are eventually going to ruin the whole feel of the WB and kill its own station. Also, Monday nights on the CW are now LAME!!!!!

I liked runaway and was sad to see it cancelled. I really like Leslie Hope. I hope she can find another show quickly. On the 7th Heaven thing...that show was over when almost the whole cast didn't come back. It's a waste of an hour for advertisers. I agree that they should've dumped 7th heaven and kept Everwood.

The CW blows. I thought runaway was a really great change of pace, especially with the stupidity of bringing back 7th heaven. If they had left runaway on the monday time slot it would have done just fine. This station really needs to get its act together.

CW blew it when they canceled Everwood. It would have been the heart and soul of a Network that has neither. It brought class to a network that is in desperate need of some. I don't watch the CW and don't ever plan on watching the CW. I can wait for Smallville and Gilmore Girls on DVD.
