On Friday we asked your opinion on the comedy "Ugly Betty," and now we've found that there is some serious DeathWatch love for the new ABC series. (Could that be why the network just ordered up a full season of the show?)

Harry: "'Ugly Betty' is the best new show this fall. I don't think it will get the ax soon, considering the high ratings (#1 for new shows) and its brilliant writing and performances. America Ferrara should win the Emmy. Her gay-in-training little brother Justin is weird but hilarious."

Soccerlover997: "Ugly Betty is too cute to be bad. With all of its quirkiness, it's bound to get good reviews. America Ferrera is very enjoyable to watch."

Tiffany: "I've watched 'Survivor' every season so far, but this time I'm watching 'Ugly Betty' instead. It's light and funny and unlike anything else on TV. Great show!"

It's a great show...they hit the nail on the head. Very entertaining, America is a brilliant actress...even if the show doesn't get to a second season, she'll do just fine in Hollywood. I am sure we will see more of her.

When I first heard about 'Ugly Betty' I really wanted to watch it, but I instantly also knew that it was very likely to be cancelled after one season. I respect and commend the premise of the show, and almost feel bad for mentioning anything bad about the show, mainly because of it's such support by people like Oprah and Salma Hayek. But to be blunt the show is simply not heart pulling enough. Yes America Ferrara does pull off a very good performance, but it does not shine from all the plasticated acting from basically everyone else on the show. Above all though the character of Betty is made up to be so much of a heroine that there is no where really for her character to really evolve to, unless they decide to make 'Ugly Betty' pretty and betray the basis of the show. But even if they don't do that the show cannot depend on the evolution of the rest of the cast, because blatantly the acting is that poor and well cheesy.

She's ugly. I'm not gay so I see no point in watching this show.

Gay? What the hell does Ugly Betty have to do with you being gay or straight?

This site is getting rude.

Ugly Betty is a joy to watch. Not heavy, great writing, America Ferrera is a breath of fresh air. My favorite show of the new season since it's not about murder or typical "formula" t.v.
Thank you writers..

I just want to know why they made her look like a 12-year old? It's very distracting that she looks like everyone's kid sister. The show is good and the writing gets better each week--but IMHO, I think they could have made Ugly Betty look more age-appropriate and still not lost any of the laughs.

Why are "Ugly Betty" and other shows that have been picked up for a full season still on Deathwatch? Shouldn't they be removed?

This show is very well done. I watched the Spanish version so I could see if there is any connection, and I must say that the America version (pun intended) is much better. She is an amazing actress and although the other characters are "plastic", as someone mentioned in an earlier post, I believe that to be intentional, thus making a very interesting point about the fashion magazine world.

I like this show. I just wish that since it is on at 8pm I could watch it with my 8 year old daughter. |Instead, I preview its debut for appropriateness and was so disappointed when the secretary comes out from underneath the desk. Selma should know better. She sold out the girls who could really benefit from some of its solid messages for sex. Shame on you selma.

I was hesitant to watch this one, but I'm glad I did! I love it.

I gotta admit, Ugly Betty does rank ahead of What About Brian? on the "must watch" list. Not by much, but considering how bad What About Brian is...

Tanya wrote:

I feel so guilty for not liking this show. I love America Ferrera, and I watched the first three episodes before giving up. I TRIED. But the plots have all been done to death, and the nephew and the wardrobe girl are the only likeable, non-whiny characters.

The weird little skits with Salma Hayek were the greatest part, and she wasn't even in last week's episode. I just can't do it.

Absolutely love this show. By the 4th episode, they've found the perfect mix of earnestness, snark, over the top-ness, and wit. And I defy anyone to not be charmed by America's performance--or by her sweet, nonsexual chemistry with her boss, the very very fine Eric Mabius.

I feel like this show is trying to recycle "The Devil Wears Prada." It's cute, but not cute (or original) enough to build a real core.

Marilyn wrote:

I watch Ugly Betty and am entertained, but it is very predictible. Love the little brother!

Shelly wrote:

This show is so refreshing from all the intese drama and crime shows. Gives new meaning to the word ugly

Heather wrote:

I love this show! I think that it was cast very well. I do however think that there will have to be an episode where betty actually changes her appearance if, fo no other reason, to give a different dynamic to the storyline. BUT..... then it wouldn't be "Ugly Betty"....so it will be very interesting to see where the writers take the storyline.

Mary Supinger wrote:

I love this show! Betty is adorable and her nephew is even cuter. I hope the Cruella da Ville character gets it real soon.....it's the only bad part.
