Just one week ago, NBC ordered three more scripts of the new comedy “30 Rock.” This had us worried, because an order for scripts is not an order for episodes. In essence, NBC wanted to see what the show would look like if they were to pick it up.
This morning, news was released that the network has orderd a full season of the “no-laughtrack” comedy, after its move to Thursday nights boosted its flagging ratings.
We all breathed a sigh of relief. As, we're sure, did the writers at "30 Rock." Those three new episodes had to be the best writing of their lives. (Now we can't wait to see the episodes.) We work down the hall from Saturday Night Live, and so we like the idea that life is really like this. We also love all the jokes made about our parent company GE.
We're also totally in love with Alec Baldwin after his historic turn on "Saturday Night Live" a few weeks back. As for Tina Fey, we've long referred to her as the "mint chocolate chip ice cream of TV writers" -- folks either love her or they hate her. We're pretty big fans.

I'm glad 30 Rock has been picked up for a full season! It's one of my favorite new shows of the year. Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey are hilarious, but they could do without Tracy Morgan. I never thought he was funny on SNL and he is even less funny here. Is it me, or does it seem like everything he says is completely monotone and sounds like he is always reading from cue cards?

I agree with Kevin - it is a funny show. Never was a fan of Morgan. Love the lack of laugh track. BTW...(ED. note: Thanks for the heads up, Craig!)

I think this show is pretty funny and one of the best new shows this year. I've watched every episode and really love Baldwin's character and that Kenneth guy. I'm glad this show got picked up, I just wish it was on at a different time. Grey's Anatomy is still the best show on tv and after The Office ends I switch right over to ABC. Thank you DVR.

Well, I guess I'll have to give it another try. After the first two episodes I took it off tivo (20 good years only took one). I love SNL, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin (never thought much of Tracy Morgan), but the first episode was possibly the worst thing I've ever seen on TV.
OK, 1 more try.

30 Rock is, hands down, my favorite new sitcom on TV. It'd be my favorite new show altogether were it not for Heroes and Studio 60. (Come to think of it, kudos to NBC. I love Scrubs too.) Tracy Morgan is a love-him-or-hate-him kind of guy. I won't say people who don't like him just don't get him. I think people who don't like him just don't think he's funny and that's ok. I love him and he's great opposite Tina Fey. But, as others have said above, the show stealer is Alec Baldwin. He's perfect for this role because it's so unlike most of his movie roles. I hope to see 30 Rock do more w/ Scott Adsit and Judah Freidlander. I haven't laughed as hard any time recently as I did when I found out Jane Krakowski's big movie role was in "Rural Juror." Funny, funny stuff. Like, vintage SNL-funny.
