NBC announced this morning that it would be moving the next two episodes of "Andy Barker, PI" to (yee-ouch) Saturday nights at 8pm. Those two episodes also happen to be the last two episodes shot for the sit-com about an accountant turned private investigator.
No new episodes have been ordered. There goes that...
The interesting thing about "Andy Barker PI" is that it's a bit of a critical darling. It's been called a "joyous, ridiculous, warm, affecting and silly comedy." It's been praised for its ability to carry out a joke without pandering to the audience. Could it be the next brilliantbutcancelled show that we will forever mourn the loss of?
Provided that the show can stay afloat on Saturday nights..."Andy Barker" could be called one of the few DeathWatch success stories. Six episodes were ordered, and six episodes will air. This is the same thing that happened to "Big Day" (ABC). It won't be returning for a second season, but boy if they didn't put up a good fight with the original order.

What is the matter with NBC? they keep canceling the good shows and stiffing us with the crap shows - next thing you know they'll change their network name to FOX 2.

Aw, bummer--I had my doubts about this before it premiered, but it's been a hoot to watch so far, very funny & smart & with great casting. Man, they don't even give these shows a chance anymore--if they aren't hits within three weeks, bam, they're out. What a shame.

Maybe shows like Andy Barker P.I. would have a chance to find a larger audience if the programmers at NBC weren't all aliens from Planet Moron. I'm not a fan of sitcoms, but Andy Barker was a nice change of pace: It was funny. Gee, what a concept for a sitcom. :P
It wouldn't be so insulting if NBC were going to replace it with something that's actually good, but they're not. I don't have to be in television programming to know that.
I wish we could cancel NBC's programmers and the pull that advertisers have on them.
Oh, well. Back to HBO I go.

Andy Barker P.I. was silly and campy and that's what made it fun to watch. When it wasn't on tonight I rushed here to find out what was going on. NBC programming people need to get a clue. They promote the heck out of 30 Rock which, in my opinion, is poorly written and badly acted. And I can't stand that Tracy Morgan/Jordan/whoever! Studio 60 had potential but they axed it. The replacement Black Donnelleys was even better though and now it's probably gone too. Andy Barker P.I. is definitely worth keeping (and the Black Donnelley's too!)!

I think that Andy should have stayed with Conan.
Another thing that really bothers me is that the people who make the decisions to cancel......make it SO SOON! They barely get a change.
Here they spend all this money to develop a series and then pull it. We need to be able to connect with characters and this isn't always done by the 2nd episode.
