Bluths Are Back

August 01, 2006

20060801_arresteddevelopmen.jpgIn a novel move, the syndication rights to the dearly-beloved, but under-watched "Arrested Development" were sold simultaneously to several venues. Cable channels HDnew and G4 as well as MSN.com all are green-lighted to show any of the 53 episodes produced until 2009. This move shows there are some intelligent people in the TV business (even if they're stuck in licensing). Normal rules of syndication dictate at least 100 episodes should have originally aired and the rights are sold to one outlet. Neither of which happened in this case.

Additions to "The Office" Staff

20060801_helms2_160x120.jpgOur favorite Scranton-based paper company will have some serious competition. We know from last season that "Corporate" wants to shut down one of its branches. Meet the rival: Charles "Chip" Esten of "Who's line is it anyway?" who will play Josh Porter, the regional manager of the competing branch! In other news: Ed Helms, a correspondent "The Daily Show" will be a more regular face on "The Office" next season, too.

Leno & Roeper

20060801_leno_160x120.jpgJay Leno is set to share popcorn with Richard Roeper. The late night talk show host was tapped to fill in for Roger Ebert while he recoups from surgery in a hospital bed. Couldn't they have just shown reruns while Ebert recovers from his surgery? Nobody watches that show for the current movies featured, do they? We give this move two thumbs down.

David Hassle-Your-Hoff

insideroutsider_hasselhoff_160x120.jpgThe "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch" star learned the hard way that you can no longer bring knives, lighters, bombs or your drunk ass onto international flights. Heathrow Airport officials told the hairy-chested actor that he was too shit-faced-drunk to board a flight from London to Los Angeles. Hasselhoff's divorce from Pamela Bach was finalized in LA on the same day as this incident. Maybe his boozey behavior way just a sign of his tender, bruised heart.

Desperate Housewives

July 31, 2006

insideroutsider_housewives_160x120.jpgOne of our favorite housewives is going to meet her end this fall. Apparently, in a supermarket stand-off, one desperate hottie won't make it to the checkout lane. While lips are sealed about who will meet their demise, the show's execs have announced the arrival of new cast member (they kinda need to replenish their supply since last season it felt like someone was killed off in each episode). Edie's nephew, who will undoubtedly get tangled in some steamy sex scenes, is set to be played by former "Over There" star Josh Henderson.
