I guess I can kind of understand. I am 50/50 B&W, but consider my self mostly black. Granted I have never experienced a lot of predjudice but people need to be more considerate sometimes. I believe and teach my kids;"If you can't do the time DON'T do the crime." It's hard to do shows sometimes. People don't know what's going on personally but you are still expected to make everyone laugh. If they had the audacity to interrupt and I'm sure they were not nice about it then they probally deserved what they got. I hate the N word when used negatively. I don't use profanity but on certain occassions it feels like the only way to relieve yourself of overwhelming anger so it slips out. Of course it never settles anything and only puts you on the same LOW level as the person you're bellowing to. I and my whole family black and white are Seinfield fans and Michael Richards too so I may be biased. But if you choose to act like an "N" why should'nt you be treated like one?

Hi Yvette, I am not sure if you are saying that Richards behaved like an "N***" or if the African-Americans in the crowd behaved as such. How exactly does a "N" act? And how do you treat people like a "N"? When is it acceptable for humans to treat fellow humans inhumane? If you truly understand the meaning and impact that words can have on others; then you should know that Richards using such language toward anyone of any race is inappropriate. I hope that no one ever refer to you, your children or any member of your as a "N***". I pray that you do not teach your children that it is ok to call or treated people inhumane. You should reconvene with the darker hue of your family and try to understand what your statements/actions mean. Or if you would like a reality check, I can recommend some towns for you to visit in the USA that will help you realize what racism really mean.

Most importantly, WHO CARES!!! He is a has-been that used a racial clur in a stupid way. Many people in this country are using that word as we speak (or type). It is a terrible word and disgusting when people use it, but Micheal Richards, Really, WHO CARES!!!

Tina, very good comment.
It's amazing what these comments reveal!
What Richards did was despicable. It's up to the ones he offended to accept his apologies (or not), but he is a racist and this was disturbing. Some of the comments are as well.

It's no big deal. People need to get over it. They ticked him off and he reacted, some say overreacted. That kind of stuff goes on all the time whether we hear about it or not. I just think its been blown way out of proportion. It's over . He sincerely apologized. Done.

i think it was just as rude for the two guys to heckle richards. they paid to see him, so why tease him? i'm sure he could have let them know how little he appreciated their heckling in a better way.
but whatever, i'm still in love w/ seinfeld.

I think what Richards said/did by going over the top with his "explosion" was VERY WRONG. He should pay a price, and he will...people will remember this for quite a while and his income and fame, etc will suffer drastically. But that's where it should end.
There's equally (actually MORE) no excuse for the group of black men who attended his show to become abusive, loud, disruptive, and ALSO yell out multiple racial insults and remarks (conveniently not recorded on video). Not only are they interfering in a man performing his act (his JOB), but they ruined a show that MANY other people who paid for, a show that they just may have been enjoying up to that point!
I think instead of those disrupting loud-mouths who STARTED the horrible exchange suing Richards, Richards and the rest of the paying audience should sue those "hecklers" (I disagree with them hiding behind this term "hecklers" BTW, they were abusive, persistent RACISTS who disrupted the show CONTINUOUSLY from the accounts of many sober minded attendees)!
Like many have said before, if it were a black comic repeatedly yelling "they're crackers, crackers, crackers...", etc, then this would've been a non-story.

First of all,all the so called hecklers did was say "your not funny" to richards during his act. THERE IS NO REASON WHY ANYONE WOULD EVER DESERVE TO BE TREATED THE WAY THESE TWO MEN WERE. I think what richards said was very offensive and outrageous. He knew what he was saying and he didn't care. Now he wants to make it all go away. I am also just as outraged by some(not all)of the audience who were laughing the whole time during richards tirade. The "N word" should not be used toward anyone under any circumstances. It make me sad to see that even now after all that we have been through in our american history, people think what richard did is no big deal. Have we learned any thing? Or are we choosing to be ignorant.

Saying the "N" word is wrong no matter who says it. There is no good way of saying it. The "N" word is NOT our word. It is a word that was used as a means of degrading blacks/African-Americans and slaves. Now we have rappers saying it, and African-Americans saying it to each other as if it were a badge of honor. It stinks, it's wrong, and it should be a word that is never said. Richard Pryor used to use the word a lot, but after he went to Africa and saw all of the different shades of blacks and just how mnany there were, he vowed never to use that word again, and he kept that vow for the most part. Young folks today go through a lot of stuff in their lives, and so did the older generations, African-Americans fought long and hard to get where we are now, and we have a long way yet to go, let's not forget the sacrifices made by our ancestors and we should work harder to rise above the silliness. And finally, Michael Richards was wrong, wrong, wrong! Comics get heckled, that comes with the profession, deal with it professionally. All that bitterness and hatred came from somewhere mr. Richards, and it was raw and a true insight to your personallity and beliefs.

I can not believe all the press over something so un important. So what he had a melt-down , in part caused by a couple of a-holes in the audience. WE HAVE DISCRIMINATION in this country folks. Its NOT right, its stupid but we have it. I would be more concerned with what our political leaders do and say than what "krammer" has to say.

I have always loved the performance of Michael Richards all the way from his days on the TV series "Fridays". As a hispanic minority, I feel that Richards could have handled his reaction to the heckling incident more professionally; however, I see the public reaction (to include Jesse Jackson and others)and the media hype as hypocritical and self-serving.
Great performers like Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and other comedians like them have used the "N" word in their proformances for years. Their audiences have not taken offense to the word and neither should we. Sticks and stones folks, sticks and stones. Words have no meaning unless we assign one. Once we, as a society, stop reacting to the "N" word and stop giving it meaning or credence, we will be free of it forever.
What we should take offense to is the idea that their is a difference between people who where born and raised here in America. This racializing of Americans into groups by race; such as, African-Americans, Cuban-Americans, Native-Americans and the like, that is what is truly offensive. We are all Americans, even the Naturalized ones like me. My parents chose to become U.S. citizens, I chose to become a U.S. citizen and we love being Americans.
What we should be really concerned about is the hatred that other countries have for America and Americans. We need to stop focusing on the small issues like the Richards incident and focus on the larger issues, like the mess in Iraq, Iran and other countries that want to destroy are freedoms. Peace to all of you.
