We reported yesterday about Kelly Ripa's budding feud with Clay Aiken.

So yes, Clay put his hand over her mouth on television, and that's just poor form. But then this happened:

On yesterday's "The View" Rosie O'Donnell took Ripa to task for saying that Aiken was being disrespectful. But Rosie's comments might have crossed a line:

"Now listen, to me that was a homophobic remark. If that was a straight man, if that was a cute man, if that was a guy that she didn't question his sexuality, she would have said a different thing," O'Donnell said.

I don't blame her.Idon't want anyone gay, straight or want ever putting their hands on my mouth. And as far as rosie goes she just wants to blow off steam about anything or anyone that has to do with being gay.I really don't know why anyone would want to listen to her at all about anything!!!!She's gay we get it!!!

Mike wrote:

There's nothing homophobic about reacting to someone shoving a hand over your mouth. Kelly had every right to respond to that. Rosie = clueless.

Geraldine wrote:

When a person does something objectionable to you, you do have the right to OBJECT. Phobia is not the issue. Rosie has resorted to her typical behavior of "open mouth...insert foot.

gloria wrote:

Rosie is under the impression that she is a fair. The attack on Kelley was unwarranted and she knows it. Maybe she should join a gang because she is a bully!

Diana Booth wrote:

Clay might have been out of line for putting his hand over her mouth however, shouldnt she have been a little kinder and gentler towards him since they were on the air. I think kelly is full of herself and I think she could have addressed this issue off the air. Furthermore I find the germ issue hard to believe since this is the same girl who chews other peoples (already chewed) gum.

Deej wrote:

Gee, it is not that big of a deal. Homophobic Rosie? Nah...and Kelly told him right away; that this was a no no. Clay is a cute guy but don't expect to see him back on that show in the near future...lol

Avery wrote:

Gay, straight, red, white, or purple I don't want anyone shoving their hand over my mouth. Not to mention on a nationally broadcast television show. It was bad form, poor judegement, and just rude on Clay's part. And it's none of Rosie's business, she didn't have a place to say anything.

cathy wrote:

And so now Rosie tries to out everyone - does she forget her closet days when she would fite tooth and nail ANYONE who said SHE WAS GAY!???? Who made her the spokeswoman for all gay people? Gimme a break Rosie - chose your battles and remember the golden rule in gay life - you want to know about someone? ask them yourself and allow the person in question to dictate their own destiny.......

Nicki wrote:

I would have reacted the same way as Kelly if anyone had done that to me. In fact I've said it to my four year old niece. Does that mean I don't like kids? Rosie just wanted something to complain about and apparently wanted to out Clay at the same time.

Robert wrote:

OK, I'm Gay and I think Rosie is a fool on this one. I am a Rosie fan and I love Kelly too. I think that Kelly calling in during the "View" was a very good way to talk it out instead of then throwing comments arouond later and giving the media a field day. Clay was a guest on Kelly's show. She leads, you talk when you are given the opening. He was RUDE and she made a very nice and funny quip to cover it (which is her style). I did not see anything homophobic about it.

Barb C wrote:

I don't think Clay meant any harm when he put his hand over Kelly's mouth. I think it was a "childlike" reaction to what was going on or said...(I do not know what they were talking about when it happened)

Clays is always a gentle, quite person who always shows respect to others...

I just think "he was excited and reacted without thinking of the action taken"

PLASSSE

Roezzie wrote:

PLEASSE. I'm sorry but someone has to shut up Kelly Ripa, she never stops, I can't watch that show since she became host, she's rude and needs all the air time.

Pauline wrote:

Kelly said exactly what a lot of people would have said if someone covered their mouth. Rosie definitely overreacted and outed Clay in the process. I don't know why Kelly didn't just make her look like the fool she was by telling her that as far as she knows Clay is straight, and for Rosie to assume it was an issue of homophobia then she must be privy to information about Clay's sexuality that the rest of us aren't.

aswan wrote:

Ummm, has Mr. Aiken ever heard of personal space? It's "personal" space for a reason. I'd a slapped him upside the head.

Garee wrote:

Rosie, Rosie, Rosie..... I think maybe YOU'RE the homophobe. It wouldn't be the first-time someone hated themselves so-much that they had to pass it off on someone else. I really, REALLY can't stand the thought that so-many people probably think of you as the typical lesbian....

Elisa wrote:

Well was it ok for Kelly to put her hand over Regis' mouth in a past episode? She is a hipocrit!

Justice wrote:

Kelly could have handled this off air. It would have never blown up like this had Kelly just handled her biz with Clay off air after the show. She didn't need to discuss with Regis on the show the next morning, she wouldn't have needed to call in to Rosie's show and she would have had to put up with every Tabloid TV show, reairing the clip of Clay covering her mouth and Her covering Regis' mouth earlier in Feb of this year . . . that's a little embarrasing after she caused such a stink . . .Ouch!

Marissa wrote:

If Clay wasn't gay before I'm sure after the over reaction and the abuse by those two ego maniacs (Kelly and Rosie) it will solidify it for him.
