Trump v. Rosie, Round 834

December 22, 2006

Slow news day? Tired of hearing about Darfur and/or the blizzard in Denver? Or was there just not a new Britney crotch shot available to set our collective minds-a-waggin?

Instead we must try to make sense of this Rosie O'Donnell versus Donald Trump feud. First Rosie said Donald wasn't a moral arbiter and should make such a fuss about Miss USA. Then Donald called Rosie a piggy face. Then Barbara Walters got involved -- defending both of them as friend!

And god bless Larry King -- no minor celebutante in his own mind -- let Donald "call in from his private jet" -- to talk about Rosie's lies on her blog and compare them to the lies that "got us into Iraq."

Oh my! Merry Xmas folks!

But let's take a minute and celebrate one thing: This appears to be the first, multi-platform scandal-fight to include Beauty Pageants! Television! The internet! Radio! Telephones on planes! Cable TV! And gossip sheets!

Donald Trump is an arrogant person who thinks the world revolves him. He has the nerve to make fun of Rosie's looks--has he looked in the mirror? Tell me, if he wasn't rich, would he have the beautiful women that he has in life?

Charles wrote:

Uh, exactly why are we supposed to care about any of this?

Why doesnt Fat Rosefed O'Donuts STFU already! Geez, it cant even clam up for the holidays! My Christmas present ABC can give me-lock her up for the Christmas ,or as she would say, the HOLIDAY season!

jan wrote:

The Donald just wishes he had some of the talent that Rosie has...he's a wanna be TV star with bad hair. Rosie says what she thinks and I respect that. The Donald's counter-attack shows how little class he has in handling an incident like this. One has to wonder just how good of a "friend" he can be to the classy Barbara Walters.

whocares wrote:

Rosie? Talent? Uh, yeah, to play an overweight cave woman. Personally, I'd rather watch the Donald any day. But in any case, they both have the right to voice their opinions--- but why do we have to hear them???????

tony wrote:

Donald Trump is a moron. Rosie got a few facts wrong but Trumped didn't know nothing. Such as saying her talk show was failure and her magazine was failure. Her show was on for 6 seasons and was a ratings success and her magazine was successful it was internal problems at the magazine that caused it to end. His only defense is calling Rosie ugly. Well has he looked in the mirror at all, he is no where near attractive. He only gets beautiful women because of his money not because of his great personality and great looks because he don't have that.

melissa wrote:

This whole Rosie verses Donald is just too funny! It's almost as funny as watching snow melt in my back yard, we have too many things going on in this world of ours right now. We should be worried about A LOT MORE IMPORTANT things, after all we are having men killed everyday fighting for real causes.

Stacey wrote:

I think the Donald is showing his true childish colors. Rosie hit the nail on the head. When did a cheating moron become our moral compass? It's all just sad, sad, sad.

Aaron wrote:

Rosie is a failure because she 1. walked away from a money maker show like that which is a bad business move. 2. the magazine failed because she tried to run something she had no clue about. she's a pig that hasn't been funny since the first time she said cutie patootie

Jean wrote:

LOVE creative-real-honest-caring-speaks-her-mind Rosie. HATE unfaithful-ridiculous-haired Donald. NUFF SAID.

Murph wrote:

Rosie is a loud-mouthed, foolish, untalented, unfunny, piggish woman who is too damned ignorant to know when she's offending billions of Asians! I don't have any more love for Trump than I do for her, but he's the lesser of two idiots in my opinion.

Rosie is using an ad hominem, tu quoque argument saying that Trump has nop right to preach morality because he himself is immoral. What follows from this might well be, in this area, that The Donald is a hypocrite, not that his positioning or reasoning is logically unsound or even invalid. She's making a sloppy case for her point by using such attacks. That's not a surprise, though, because she's a sloppy woman.

On the other hand, when it comes to Trump and this pagent, my opinion is that the Golden Rule (He who has the gold makes the rules) applies here. It's his pagent, so he can basically set the moral standard for the participants. Is it fair? Probably not. I do think it's his right, though.

Christina wrote:

Rosie has a history of being a pompous gas bag and its funny who's "moral" compass she's taking inventory of. Millions of people don't agree with her own lifestyle so for her to point a crooked finger Trumps way is laughable. But Trump is equally classless - he retaliated like a child and attacked Rosie on the basis of looks, relationship and success...all of which none are true. Rosie HAS been a success regardless of weight and her annoyingly endless need to set EVERYONE else "straight" with her opinions. Trump is a cold and coddled characateur (sp?)of what a true successful business man who has his own house in order, family and all really is. IMO he comes up SHORT, hair and all.

Rick wrote:

I think that both Rosie and Trump are loud mouths and need a lot of attention. The simple fact that most media outlets carried this story, it gave them both what they wanted.....their names in print. Do we really care what they think of each other? Neither one makes a difference to the world!!

Anon wrote:

Trump is as much of a turd as Rosie except Rosie isn't as much of a fucking moron as Trump. Come on, he bashes Rosie for her weight, doesn't he know that he's offending almost half of America? And he thinks he's good enough to judge who's good inside? Give me a break.

Mil wrote:

Well In my opinion. I CAN'T STAND ROSIE and I am a big chick she is sloppy and rude, crude and loud mouthed and very ignorant IMO. I hated her since she just "started in on so many people really for no other reason to be cruel and evil let's go back
She attacked Christians, Asians, Mel Gibson but NOT Michael Richards(huh)Kelly Rippa, Star Jones, Kirsty Alley but defends Boy (Crack head, Cocaine sniffing) George? Give me a fuckin break she is just an asshole and professional dyke. I think it is going to be a HUGE mistake on ABC's part to keep her on the show she might make the ratings go up now but eventually she is going to wear it too thin and the View is going to take the fall. The show is now to the point of being a joke I quit watching it and I have started getting other people to stop watching it as well
It eventually is going to turn into a Jerry Springer type show with Rosie as the Bouncer. She is a bully she was at one point "OK" not an "A" celebrity by any stretch of the imagination but turned out respectable performances in League of there own, Sleepless in Seattle but damn now NO ONE can call her the Queen of Nice now and guess what I don't give a rats ass that she is gay I have male and female friends that are and straight ones too it does not matter she is just a nasty, nasty person

AS for' The Donald" I do not agree with the name calling my husband thinks he is crazy for that comment. It should not matter Rosie is fat she is an asshole fat or skinny but that take Donald down a peg. Yes he is arrogant but I work with lots of industry people and a lot of people with money most ARE like that because they feel entitled to be that way cause they have money. I will still watch Donald before Rosie I know this much

molly b wrote:

Trump is the jerk and loser. He is going to sue for fun rather than have fun with his money helping others. Rosey gives a much higher percentage of her net worth than trump. He is a very small minded man that most likely has other small things hidden from public view.

Nunya Bidness wrote:

I'm no kid, I'm in my 50's. I've watched both Rosie and Trump for years. PATTERNS. You may love or hate Rosie, but people do laugh and listen to her. TRUMP on the other hand, pretty much has garnered the same public opinion: Too rich, too selfish, too arrogant, too spoiled, lives in a glass house and throws rocks at will *just because he can and no one can afford to throw back*. I say BOYCOT "The Apprentice", everyone, and let him know, via his website, just what you think of him and his self-absorbed, unrealistic, super ego, and totally nasty self. Come on Donald, get a little "real" here, the real world could use a kind and gentle *and generous* helping hand, and you are just too nasty and egotistical to see beyond the end of your own nose. Rosie has done much for the world, what have you done? Big lavish buildings full of Trump clones? Woo freakin' HOO. GO ROSIE!

Valerie wrote:

Here here, I think Rosie can and does go way overboard in her views, but Trump is an ass. I support Rosie all the way and I will boycott the Apprentice. Attacks on what someone looks like is just rude, plain and simple, neither of them needed to go there. At least Rosie is pretty much a regular person and has not forgotten where she came from. My loyalty will remain with her and the View.
