“Show Me the Money” Cancelled

December 18, 2006

ABC has pulled the plug on its Wednesday night line-up, shutting down both ''Day Break'' and ''Show Me the Money.'' The low-rated series airing back-to-back on Wednesday nights have both been pulled by the network.

''Show Me the Money,'' hosted by William Shatner, was designed to compete with the success of NBC's ''Deal or No Deal,'' except the scantily-clad ladies on “Show Me the Money” actually jiggled and danced instead of just holding suitcases. By last week, the ratings for the show had fallen to a 1.6 in the 18-49yo demographic.

ABC said that the show will be replaced in the short term by sitcom reruns. On Jan. 3, the sitcoms ''Knights of Prosperity'' and ''In Case of Emergency'' will debut in the 9-10 p.m. EST Wednesday time period. When ''Lost'' returns Feb. 7 with 16 new episodes it will move to 10 p.m. EST Wednesday.

We aren’t huge fans of game shows around here, but we’re actually curious about whether or not any of our readers were watching “Show Me the Money?” What did you think? Anyone?

Yes! We watched the show. Actually was a GOOD combination of knowledge AND luck! Too far above the normal dumb*ss viewer who can't do more than just pick a briefcase and hope . . . ANOTHER good show tanked by the ever-dwindling intellect of the US population. Congratulations you simpletons! Another victory for the mediocre! Bravo!

I kind of feel bad, at least this game show required knowledge. I didn't really watch it, but pretty much the only thing I didn't like about it was the title.

I can't believe they pulled this game show. It was actually a good concept. Some things on the show, like the dancing, was unnecessary. I watch games shows because I like them (Price Is Right, Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100, Family Feud) and this one was no exception. I like the trivia aspect of it and it's always interesting to see how far and how well people do. I think this one should maybe be moved to another time slot or something because I think it's worth watching.

The dancing wasn't a great feature, but we could have stomached it. The downfall, in our opinion, was the ridiculous gyrating of past prime, overweight, Wm. Shatner. He looked lecherous. Glad he's gone. Bring the show back with a better MC and gals with a classier role.

The show took at least some knowledge to win anything!! The dancing was GREAT!!! William Shatner is KING!! Long live the King!!!
