The show that was credited with reinventing the teen soap-opera has been cancelled. In honor of the occasion, our own TV Lover has written a post about the whys and hows, as well as some suggestions about how you can join the fight to save "The O.C."
Broadcasting and Cable and TV Week are reporting that the last episode of the show will be the season four finale, airing on February 22nd.
The show originally premiered to “must-see” ratings and even critics loved its ability to capture an audience that crossed generations. Since then, every season has declined in ratings.
The show centered around a group of high school student's in Newport Beach, California, and followed their often complicated love lives (and the love-lives of their parents).
Bravo’s highly anticipated new competition reality series Step It Up and Dance premiers Thursday,...

I am so glad this show is cancelled. I always thought this show had a very stupid story line.

I hate this - the show has been great this season! I guess people did not come back after last seasons dreary storylines......

I like this show too but when you put something opposite Grey's Anatomy what did you expect to happen? But hey at least it will go out before they have to start reaching for good material.

These networks really screw up these shows. What do you expect to happen when no one knows when a show is on, or it goes on long breaks, or they just have to have it on Thursdays to try to get the highest advertising dollars for the weekend. It's crazy!! I am a 35 yo male and I love this show, of course I mainly just love the comedy factor of it Sandy and Seth kill me with their schtik. I love that I could watch it with my wife, and kids, and all of us enjoy it.
Networks only care about dollars, and not about putting out good shows, Fox is strange lately though they pull them fast, or do not negotiate good production cost, or something, because Justice was a good show and it is gone now. Of course all they need is 24 and Idol and they will be fine. In 5 years no one will be watching network TV anyway.

Yeah, the OC was so much better this year, since the sorry Marisa character is gone. The Brown College stuff was kinda of annoying though. But it was pretty bad last year. But it should be able to last another couple of years if they fight for it. They still could do some decent stories.

This show is really good and yes last season was a bit of a drag but this season has been great so far. It's got such a fresh feel to it. The story lines are much better and the drag on less long then last seasons story line. So I believe that they should keep the show for another couple of years. I also agree with one of the comments left on this page about how Fox dosen't give a shit about good shows cuz for them its all about the dollar signs only. I really hope everyone fights to keep this show on the air. That's my opinion.

the show has gone through a lot of changes over the past few years but change is good. There is no reason to cancel the show. Don't let the sun set on the O.C.

i totally fell out of love with this show a long time ago due to the boring ryan/marissa on again off again mess. when they killed off marissa, i knew that the show had shot itself in the head. i'm glad they're cancelling the show and i'm sure that the actors are too. i watch grey's anatomy on thursdays at 9pm anyway. their time slot helped put a nail in their coffin too. it's sad that another teen dramedy with a lack of diversity and minorities is going off the air....how will we ever recover?
