Jericho Fans Fight Back

May 23, 2007

Page 1 | Page 2

20070524_jericho_260x220.jpgEver since news of post-apocalyptic drama “Jericho’s” cancellation hit the wires dedicated viewers everywhere have started online petitions of 60,000 signatures; there have also been e-mail write-in campaigns, a MySpace page, phone-in campaigns, and our personal favorite a “Nuts to CBS” campaign that, reportedly, resulted in close to 2 tons of peanuts being delivered to CBS headquarters.

Seriously, with a base like that you mean to say there was no room to grow an audience?

It seems that the impassioned pleas from fans have at least sparked a response from CBS; dare we say an unprecedented one from their entertainment chief Nina Tassler. On the “Jericho” message board on cbs.com she wrote to fans how touched she was by the response and says CBS hopes to let fans know how the show would have ended.

“We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the ‘Jericho’ story.”

Don’t you agree this has digital extension written all over it? Keep in mind CBS still airs prior episodes on their free Innertube website.

Now, if only people did this for "The Class" then I'd be more interested.

Bring it back to Tv. CBS will have some failed series in the fall and this show can fill their slots.

KISS!

Don't you think your Jericho sponsors would like to hear that this show has a loyal following? Why keep other unimaginative, copy-cat shows that lack freshness, interest and creativity? At least Jericho has a new story idea for TV watchers today. Why get rid of it? Makes me want to quit watching ...anything on TV. I suppose we'll have another reality show or investigator/ murder show. Yuck...too much!

Dramas like jericho are expensive to produce yet reality tv is cheap & nasty.
Nuff said

Its being replaced by a REALITY SHOW.....does anyone else want to kill the people who do this crap? And even more...its a reality show about kids who are left alone....now how did Lord Of The Flies end?(if youve never read the book they kill each other).

Cancelling Jericho may have been the dumbest move by any network this season yet. Why cant a network invest in a show anymore? I wont be bothered to watch any new dramas on any network next season. There's just no point to it- they all get cancelled.

What if X-Files or Cheers tried to launch a series today? They'd be cancelled after 6 episodes. Sad but true.

Sure, these 'reality' but not real at all shows live on to torture us and multiply. What a joke. Leave Jericho on so real people can have something to watch~!

Makes me wonder if these fools have actually figured out how to raise revenue despite TiVo. CBS cancelled "Love Monkey" and "Jericho" over the course of 18 months, both of which raised a stink among their loyal followers. The target demo for both of these shows was likely younger and male - people like me who have never enjoyed commercials and actually used that time to get another beer. Either way, if you'd leave a show on the air for a little while, you might get a - GASP - growing following! I don't get it. I'm quickly souring on TV that values cheap, crappy entertainment over decent work...

NUTS to CBS, I am now watching ABC and NBC instead of CBS, they really are stupid over there.

JERICHO LIVES!

Bo wrote:

It seems pretty dense of the network to abandon the show so quickly. From what I've read, the show did rather impressively in the fall. It's ratings only dropped after the long break (which has been difficult for all shows based on an ongoing action based plotline (i.e. 24, Lost)) and being put up against "American Idol". Say what you will about"Idol" but it's a ratings monster. So they are throwing out a show that got some real buzz, has an obvious viewer base and actually did something original lately to put on something untried? In hopes to offset "Idol"?...good luck. NUTS to CBS.

Adrienne Sherlock wrote:

I have been watching "Jericho" since day one and then they cancelled it due to the hiatus THEY placed on the program. Who's fault is that?? It was the only interesting program on and now you buttmunches take that away. The network is spending "too much" money??? Please... The network is always making money. This is the same reason HBO took off "Rome". You think HBO is poor?? Or YOUR FORGOTTEN NETWORK???
