“Lost” was only supposed to be the title of the series not the actual plot the joke goes. That’s what many dedicated but frustrated fans have been saying over the past two seasons about the unique ABC drama.
At Brilliant we generally ignore such pooh-poohing since we are still terribly committed fans of the groundbreaking series. Still, we love the news (and hate the news) that executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have set an end date for the show.
Typically, that kind of news would be a reason to grieve however the end date set isn’t until 2010, an entire winter and summer Olympics away.
Last January, “Lost” producers said they were talking with the network about setting an end date.
''We always envisioned “Lost” as a show with a beginning, middle and end,'' Lindelof and Cuse said in a statement. ''By officially announcing exactly when that ending will be, the audience will now have the security of knowing that the story will play out as we've intended.''

I'm glad they've set a date(so to speak)but I'm mad about them reducing the episodes, per season, down from 24 to 16 - thats crap. I want a full season of Lost next season not 3/4ths of a season.

I'm getting tired of teaser commercials from ABC saying things will answered in certain episodes, but seriously? Has anything really been answered? I mean, most of these so-called answers seem to generate more questions and confusion than they do actual answers and fan-satisfaction. I'm happy to hear that the Lost creators have an ending in sight with a date. Maybe once we get over this season hump, the creators will actually start making some sense with the plot and start giving some real answers instead of creating more questions. I have to admit though, this show is like the ugly you can't stop staring at! As much as I gripe and complain, I can't help but keep watching and hoping something BIG will happen. It's addictive.
