Cancelled: Veronica Mars

We would like to have a word with the CW network … preferably alone … and in a back alley somewhere. Fresh off the heels of “The Gilmore Girls” finale the network has pulled the plug on “Veronica Mars” despite rumors of continuing the cult favorite but shifting the focus of the storyline.

And suddenly we have absolutely nothing to watch on Tuesday nights.

We fell head over for “Veronica” and its lead character played by Kristen Bell -- a wisecracking teenage private eye who hounded suspects and solved capers in the fictitious setting of Neptune, California for three seasons. Veronica was a modern update of Nancy Drew, with less sugar and way more guy problems.

The show hinged on the smart, supportive relationship shared between Veronica and her father: sheriff-turned-P.I.-turned-sheriff again Keith Mars, played by Enrico Colantoni.

The other key players included Veronica’s on/off boyfriend Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring), her best friend from high school Wallace (Percy Daggs III), and the wonderfully aloof former sheriff Don Lamb, played by Michael Muhney.

Oh I'm so pissed off!.. Now I will only have 1 show to watch on both CW(Supernatural being the other)and on CBS(I read in the paper today that CBS plans on cancelling The Class, those bastards).

Bennett wrote:

So let's see: The CW had exactly two shows with an established fan base - Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars - which also happened to be the only two shows on the network worth watching. And they cancelled both of them. Nice job. Get comfortable in that cellar, CW. You're going to be there a while.

Bryce wrote:

How sad. No more Veronica, she will be missed. Also how is ALiens in America considered new because it was suppose to air this past season. They need to keep veronica, great job pissing the fans off CW. The only show I will watch is One tree hill which is off until JAnuary so no watching CW next fall for me.

Brittany wrote:

I hate this!!!!!!!! Why would they cancel....anyway LoVE better be togather in the finale

Elaine wrote:

I have to say: CW SUCKS @$$. What kind of retarded man cancelled this show? Gilmore girls and Veronica Mars are (or, now, were) the only 2 shows i watched on the CW after it opened. I thought that at least with these 2 shows, they would at least have a chance. But no. Idiotic CW cancels it. Why? I guarantee it will tank by next year. Good. I totally had my hopes up last tuesday, when it said "season finale". I was TOTALLY FREAKING OUT when i went on Mars Investigations and saw "Veronica Mars has been *cancelled*"I hate the CW. I seriously hope the cw FALLS ON ITS ASS.

brittanyyy wrote:

the fucking pussycat dolls have nothing on veronica mars. cw is dead to me. so are the pussycat dolls.

Cynthia wrote:

Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars were two of the few shows on tv with strong female characters and now both of the them are gone. Personally, I will no longer watch the CW, there is nothing worth watching in it anymore. Like others have said before me, I hope the CW fails and falls down even further in ratings!

Suzanne Wolfe wrote:

I have to say the CW sucks for cancelling Veronica Mars and I will be boycoting the network from now on. Because it seems that CW doesn't really care about the fans, but the ratings. Which is a totally degreding to the fans. The president said that she cares about the fans of the show so why cancel a great which even tied with Gilmore Girls in Save One Show on Eonline. I hope that that Veronica Mars fans continue to be loyal to the show, like I will. We can keep Veronica Mars alive, by sites and fanfictions.

Sarah Gibbs wrote:

Wow. That sucks. They still have Smallville, but dang, Veronica Mars was so catchy! Sooo, how do we change the CW's mind?

Cheryl wrote:

I am so bummed - I love Veronica Mars!!! Why would you cancel such a great show!!! Please rethink this - I looked forward to Tuesday nights for this show - it was clever, interesting, fun, waaaaa - bring it back!!!

Gilmore Girls used to be a good show - but the inane banter got on my nerves

Alison wrote:

Can't put into words how disappointed I was to hear such a smart show, with great stories, likeable characters and fantastic dialog will be gone after Tuesday. After all the hype, false starts, cancellations of current favorites and lightning quick cancellations of new shows from this season, I'm seriously considering waiting until the end of NEXT season to decide what shows to watch the following season. Then, maybe IF the reviews have been good AND if the show is renewed for a second season (assuming it makes it through season one) AND if it isn't hovering near the network big-shots possible kill zone, THEN I might give it a try. Time for us to start messing with the networks - see how they like being on the receiving end for a while.

Anna wrote:

Well, only two shows remain on the CW now that are worth watching...One Tree Hill and Supernatural. Who is running the CW anyway? Can they really be that stupid? I was willing to get passed the cancellation of Gilmore Girls given the writers weren't doing a good job this last season anyway, but cancelling Veronica Mars? I was just starting to enjoy this show. I bought the first two seasons on DVD even just so I could catch up! Unreal. And we won't even get a good finale. At least CW was honest about the cancellation instead of giving us a bogus series finale announced less than two weeks before the last show to air and giving us a sappy "goodbye" episode instead of resolving anything. I hate cancellation. TV just isn't satisfying anymore. I'm seriously considering just riding out what few shows I have left to watch on TV and not watching any new shows ever again. You just get into something and they yank it for more reality television programming. Sick. What are the odds another network would pick up Veronica Mars? Slim to none I'm gathering. Sci-Fi never picked up new episodes of Firefly either. Damn. Guess I just start piling up my TV DVD collection of show that have gone to TV Heaven.

Veronica was the only thing worth watching on Tuesdays nites---the only good show the network has and they cancel it. I wish NBC or one of the other major networks would see how much the show could thrive with more advertising and a network that cared. Look at how much time and ads it took for The Office to catch on...and it only did after people noticed Steve Carrell in 40 Year Old Virgin. And the finale...how can they end it like that, with LoVe not together...this ia an atroicty of epic proportions. This is why I hate getting invested in a show because they always take away the good ones. Bring back Veronica!!!

Eileen wrote:

I think that Veronica Mars is one of the best shows on television at the moment!! Please dont cancel it!!

Lola Smith wrote:

Veronica Mars is an amazing show, quite possibly the best ever. It quickly became my favorite show and I want it back! I've done everything I possibly could to help get it backon the air. CW- please give us our Veronica Mars!!

lilsony wrote:

If i started printing t-shirts written 'CW SUCKS ASS' would you buy em?
Damnit! Shudnt have thought out loud. Someone's gonna beat me to it now...!

Alan wrote:

CW does suck, Veronica Mars was a damn good show! Damn communists!

Sydney wrote:

The only reason I have to watch the CW now is Supernatural and since that comes on at the same time as Grey's Anatomy chances are I won't be seeing that much either.
The CW sucks!

Nika wrote:

Veronica mars is my favorite show, i just heard it was cancelled because in my home town we dont get the cw (no need for it now) however vm is the reason i came back to school, i thought about transfering, but then i thought i wouldnt get to watch veronica mars.. when i found out i wanted to break down in tears :( why would someone cancel on of the best shows every... i am OUTRAGED and sad.. nothing will every top veronica mars upn and wb should have never merged...

LaDella wrote:

wow. i have been wondering about if it was actually cancelled, its ridiculous that was one of the best shows they have had besides the gilmore girls. I think they should reconsider the cancellation of the show, kristen bell is an amazing actress, as everyone else in the show, that honestly was the best show i have seen in a while.

Gary Thompson wrote:

This is why I didn't really get into the show that much. The CW is a terrible network that will eventually go bankrupt. Jjust for the main reason of pissing off everyone that tunes into one of their shows> You get interested and then Pooff the show is gone. Just like Angel and a slew of other shows. Bye Bye CW. Your time is fading.

jessica wrote:

The CW is really begining to suck!!! I used to look forward to watching their shows. Now, i just get so fustrated because even if they keep a show we like the put even more commercials in it to make it even shorter & they have a stupid habbit of showing only like 5 episodes a season with all kinds of breaks & re-runs in between after you start to get back into the season! You guys are really going down hill fast! I am really ready to boycott the CW all together! STOP LOOKING FOR PUSSYCAT DOLLS (THEY SUCK!!) AND BRING US BACK OUR VERONICA AT LEAST FOR A REAL FINAL EPISODE THAT TIES UP ALL THE LOOSE ENDS FOR ALL OF US DEVOTED FANS!! WE DESERVE AT LEAST THAT MUCH OF A COURTESY!!!!!!! Does anyone else out there agree with me please write to your local CW....Thanks

Jean Milliam wrote:

Im so FRUSTRATED about this news...I was waiting for it to come back, searched the internet then found out it was CANCELLED!!!Are u(CW) insane??? that was 1 of the best shows in CW...Now I only watch Smallville & Supernatural...=(...CW SUCKS period!!!!

Bella wrote:

I am absolutely disappointed that Veronica Mars got cancelled. .! The CW channel was gold having that show on there now it has dumbed down TV scheduling once again with other unintelligent programming. Thumbs down for cancelling what was the only and most savvy detective show around--a lost genre--Veronica Mars ranked up there with Sherlock Holmes and the Nancy Drew mysteries. . .and the cast of Veronica Mars was simply brilliant. .. .what to do? what to do?

Kaset wrote:

guess ive been out of the loop for alittle while ...cant believe they cancelled veronica mars i loved the clever wit and back stabs that went on throughout this show everytihng about it was amazzzzzing !!! ...and for everything else they have on the CW SUCKS !! i dont think i have turned on the channel since fall began ...the only other show worth watching is one tree hill ..and that doesnt start until january ...the cw sucks ..upn9 should pick backup veronica mars !!!
