Donald Trump isn’t used to being left out of big events but the Donald was noticeably absent from the big NBC upfronts on Monday.

According to TheStar.com, the network is prepared to cut ties with Trump’s business reality show The Apprentice but has elected to wait in case they should need him at the last minute.

No mention was made of the Donald during Monday’s annual upfront, a fate worse than death for most television shows. NBC executives were non-committal however when asked about The Apprentice not willing to rule out a last minute scheduling for the show.

“Donald still wants to do the show. (Executive producer) Mark (Burnett) wants to do the show,” said NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly. “ We couldn’t find the right spot for it. So we’re going to regroup after everybody announces their schedule. We’re going to look at everything in context and then make a decision about it.”

The Donald had no immediate comment, although he may be preoccupied at the moment with his new role as a grandfather. His son Donald Jr. and daughter in-law Vanessa gave birth to a baby girl last Saturday in New York.

Honestly, I could live without The Apprentice. I could have lived without it before it even began. TV is taking a dive into the grand pool crappy programming with all this reality bull#@%$. Seriously, what happened to good, quality programming? They've even started filling the hiatus time between shows with the dreaded reality television programming. It's awful. I'm so sick of it. Is there a lack of creative, talented people out there who can't create a decent comedy or drama anymore? Or is is the viewers who lack the mental capacity to enjoy something intelligently written and genuinely inventively entertaining? Reality television is an oxymoron. If I wanted reality, I'd run around with a camera strapped to my forehead taping everything I do all day and then watch it again after I get home from work! I watch TV to see an alternate reality. A fictional world I know doesn't exist and yet entertains me and keeps mind off of my own sorry reality for a few hours a night.

I've posted my own thought about this on my blog. And I think The Donald should do a Baywatch!

Anna, it all comes down to economics and the all mighty dollar - Reality TV is much cheaper to produce than scripted TV. Besides with ad revenues down, Tivo, and the Internet all competing for the same consumer "eyeballs" it makes sense that networks (Just as any business) need to control costs. Millions of viewers tune in each week to watch AI, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor et al and as long as millions are watching there will always be a Reality show on the schedule. However back to the subject, Donlald Trump should be left on the back burner - along with his silly looking comb over hairstyle.

Girrrrrl. Sounds like you have real issues that even a stiff shot of booze could'nt help! Now...following you around for a couple of weeks with that camera taped to your forehead just might be the next big show NBC is looking for. It sounds like a phone call to McG might be in order.
