Merv Griffin, the billionaire entertainment business mogul, died over the weekend in Los Angeles. The cause of death was prostate cancer.
Griffin, the talk-show host and television producer, made his mark on television by producing such stalwarts as “Jeopardy”, “Wheel of Fortune”, “Dance Fever”, and “The Merv Griffin Show”, which he hosted for 23 years.
After he sold his company, Merv Griffin Enterprises to Columbia Pictures for $250 million, he made millions buying and selling hotels, casinos, racehorses, and radio stations. He is survived by a son and two grandchildren.
