“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” correspondent, Rob Riggle, spent last week in Iraq, taping segments for the Comedy Central show, and performing for the soldiers in the evening as part of a USO show.
Riggle, a Marine who served in Afghanistan, is no stranger to the troops, or to the battlefield, but this time, he said, “I didn’t go as a Marine in any shape or form. I went as a comedian.”
The report, “Operation Silent Thunder: ‘The Daily Show in Iraq’” will air all this week on Comedy Central. As for Riggle, he does not know if he will be recalled to active duty as a Marine, or if he’ll only visit military bases as a comic from now on.
