The Gilmore Girls

Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3

20070416_gilmore_320x240.jpgWe all read how the end was coming -- that it was time. How the show was not itself this past season without Amy Sherman-Palladino leading the helm. We could go on and on about how great “The Gilmore Girls” really was but we don't want to bore you. Instead we've written goodbyes to some of our favorite characters below.

Rory: What is there to say? You are Rory. Everything is perfect for you and the most amazing thing is that we want it to be perfect for you. Even when you had your doubts, like when you dropped out of Yale, we always knew you'd find your way back. The one thing we do wish for you is that while you are traveling around with Barack you by chance run into Dean somewhere along the way. We always did like you the best Dean (that's right, we didn't say Jess). Also, we just want to add that it always threw us off a little when someone called you Lorelai … just a little freaky.

Lorelai: You were one of the best TV moms ever. We truly believe that every teenage girl either wanted to have you as their mother, wanted to be a mother like you someday, or … quite frankly … thought you were the mother they’d most like to date. The best part is that you are still so young and can be a mom all over again with Luke's kids and remain just as cool. We also have to say we’re very impressed that your jeep still looked great in the last episode -- that thing never aged.

Luke: We know you are a man of few words, so we'll just nod and say good job.

Christopher: You were the one! Every time you road into town on your motorcycle we rooted for you to get together with Lorelai. So what if you didn't have a stable job and disappeared for years at a time, you spoke the Gilmore language and they adored you. We adored you! Then you got weird, remarried, named your child Gigi and became really needy. We wish Luke kicked your ass a little more hard because it might have knocked a little more sense into you.

I am so upset that Gilmore Girls is over, I watched the last episode and cried. I don't know what I'm gonna do on Tuesday nights.

Mr. Kim: You were always implied but never seen. Did Mrs. Kim keep him locked up somewhere?

kim wrote:

Town Minstrel? Do you mean Ton Troubadour? And yes, I loved him..... but Kirk had his place...

And Rory SOOO belonged with Jess... Dean was weak..

Stacey wrote:

Lets all just be happy they didn't write Rory riding off into the sunset with heir Huntzberger.

Gilmore girls (and all of Stars Hollow), you will be sorely missed!

The series ending was great but...was any other than me disappointed that a certain dream wasn't revisited? Remember Lorelai's dream of waking up next to Luke and him talking to the twins in her belly? A tiny part of me was hoping that, that was a premonition of things to come. I guess now we'll never know. Sigh. Now I want to rush out and buy the dvd box sets. If I can't watch new episodes at least I can reminisce.

So, it's Tuesday night and i do not know what to do with myself. I will miss Gilmore Girls more than any other show...ever! And, I agree that Rory and Dean should have gotten back together.

Sheila Oliveri wrote:

I would have liked to have seen the "twins" dream revisited, but I thought for sure that at the very least Lorelai and Luke would have made plans to spend their vacation time together this summer. After all, April ditched Luke's boat trip for Space Camp, and Rory ditched Lorelai's excursion to take her Obama job......THAT would have been a better way to end things. I am glad, though, that at least there weren't any weddings. I would have hated that! If it had to end (sob...) at least it ended with Lorelai, Rory and Luke alone together in the diner. Ciao, Stars Hollow friends....

vic wrote:

Dean?? You really want her to meet Dean??

Jackie wrote:

I'm glad Rory didn't end up with any of her past guys. She's now a modern career woman. If she ended up with Jess or Dean or had married Logan I would be incredibly disappointed that she settled down so young instead of pursuing her journalistic dreams that made Rory herself.

Sam French wrote:

...Tuesday nights? Is *that* when it was on? I checked out the boxed sets recently and fell into an addiction that barely got started before I learned it had no future. I purposely didn't watch the series finale because I want to spend more time with the Stars Hollow townfolk (et al) before learning their ultimate fates. Dean or Jessie? Paper or plastic? Kirk or ? (LOVE KIRK! You've got to give his "never say die" spirit some credit.)

Luke was perfect for Lorelai, if you can steer your way past the fact that Rory's father was *WRONG* for her. The ex Mrs. Luke should have fallen into a manhole sometime during the Kim double-wedding reception and just stayed there.

Paris... what a long, strange trip it's been. Maybe she and Kirk... Or Kirk and the crazy French guy who worked the front desk at the Inn!! I guess he's on a dancefloor somewhere with his mother.

I MISS THEM ALREADY!! And I was *just* getting to know them.

i loved gilmore girls all these years- watched it from the begining to the end- but i think the ending kinda sucked- i was pretty disappointed...rory ditchin her mom and their dream vacation that they have always wanted for all these years for obama? LOL! how completely lame! rory and Lorelai should've road off in the sunset with their backpacks crammed in the jeep as they left stars hollow as the scene ended with their funny banter as they headed for a great adventure ...i mean just imagine how perfect that ending wouldve been...

such a great show- with such a stupid series finale... the ending was so NOT gilmore girls...

and on another note- Logan Huntsberger- i LOVE what the blog said "To be honest, we never really liked you. You were a man-child and you represented everything Lorelai rejected from her past life" WELL SAID!!!! I AGREE! ROFL! thanks blog writters for that wonderful quote! couldnt say it better!

Jessi wrote:

ive watched gilmore girls since it started and i was 9. i love that show so so much. my family and i joke because i live in a quirky town in connecticut that is very very similar to stars hollow. i cried the last night of gilmore girls... but im soo happy that luke and lorelai got back together!!

mcnappy wrote:

Wow, gotta be in the minority about the finale. I'm sad it ended, because it was a great show. I hate that the original writer wasn't at the helm, because it felt as if the show had been taken over by aliens at times. Actually wasn't happy with how either major romance was handled. Just felt like the drama was shoe-horned in, man.

With that said, it had a (mostly) great run, and will be sorely missed...*sniff*

Joan wrote:

How could you forget Michel?

Saoirse wrote:

I agree with mcnappy... The show definitely wasn't as good without Amy and the ending was disapointing.
The twin dream revisit would have been great.

Kate wrote:

Nice job, a lovely tribute.
But let's get this straight... there was no town "minstrel." A troubadour yes!

Sherri wrote:

I too watched it from 1st show to last. one of the things we must remember, they did this show during negotiations and though it was coming back for at least a few more shows. Maybe a *REUNION*? let us have a bit more closure. Jess was the badboy/bad adult not good enough for Rory, Dean too weak, Logan was at least on her intellect level and was growing as we watched. Ladies you and your wit will be missed!

caroline wrote:

Dave Rygaski: You were my favorite Gilmore Girls boyfriend, even though you were Lane's boyfriend. You made Season 3 the best season ever, with the help of Jess. Thank you Dave. I love you.
