The writing on that show has gone so down hill, you can set your watch to when the comercial brakes are going to happen. Let us not even get into the predictability of it.

Unfortunately without Mischa, I'm affraid the show won't last long.

Megan wrote:

It really sucks that everyone thinks this show is over now that Mischa Barton left. The character of Marissa wasn't even that interesting anyway, it's Seth and Summer that make that show, and it still has a few years left in it if everyone will just let Marissa go.

this show was amazing the first 2 seasons but by season 3, i lost all interest. it became completely predictable, lame, and just plain boring. with or without marissa the show sucks now and that's a shame cause i loved it when it first came out!

What happened to this show. I use to look forward to watching it every Thursday. It's getting so lame that I don't even care if I miss an episode or two... or three. The writers need to get their as*** in gear or my love, Adam Brody, will be unemployed by Christmas!!!

Lana wrote:

Okay, This show sucks. I am sorry for those of you that like it. But everything on that show is over dramatic. It will not last with everyone going off to College. Marissa was a waste of writing she cannot act. It is a good thing she is a model for Bebe all she has to do is stand there and do nothing. So good luck to the show I am praying for it to tank big time!! That will be a moment to celebrate!

Kate wrote:

I've been watching the OC since it's first airing. And I like it, still do. I like the way that the show is growing.
I think what most people on this message board are missing is that the OC is not a TV show. It's a primetime soap opera.
If you look at it that way then the shows predictability and the death of a main character can both be explained by it's genre.
Has anyone on here ever watched a soap? I can catch a soap like once a month and still be able to figure out what's going on. And main characters? Most die at least once and some ome back from the dead or as secret "nicer" twin because the actor is awesome.
The OC follows the soap drama patterns while still being a prime time show. It can be predicable, which I actually like because I will occasionally miss a show and it makes it easier to catch up, characters come and go, someone has come back from the dead (ie Sandy's ex-girlfriend), and finally a main character has been killed off.

Anyway, I thought you guys needed some clearity and I hope the show isn't cancelled.

Trully hoping they can pull the show out of it's current hole or the whole show doesn't disappear into the grave with Marissa!

Come on Seth, Ryan & Summer!!

I love the O.C. I am so happy they killed off Marissa. Everyone has been getting tired of the show because they were sick of her whining and crying every single week. Now that shes gone, its time to get back to the fun and the characters that O.C. fans love.

Heh, I watched this show when it first came out for a few eps, and quit after Samaire Armstrong left. She rocked! Anyway, I was a little surprised the writers would kill off a main character....in the beginning they made it out to be all about Ryan and Marissa. If they had stuck to that formula the show might have worked better, y'know draw out the sexual tension and the attraction two or three seasons - make a payoff for viewers who stick thru the blossoming relationship, instead of plateauing right at the start and breaking them up and showing their misery or whatever (seemed like it just turned into sh!t after the first season.) Moral of the story: Hot blondes rock!

I don't know what I think of the show anymore. During the first year, I didn't talk about anything other than the OC. It was amazing. Every character seemed so realistic even crappy ol' Marissa. I can't even describe how much the decline of the show has hurt me. They add a new character and then seven minutes later they're gone. It kills me! The show went down hill right when they began the second season. I blame all of this on boring old Lindsey. She played an instrument! I don't want to see that on TV. I hate her.

Lily wrote:

This show was reasonably good the first two seasons, but the third season brought stupid plots, seth and summer's idiotic antics and plans, like matchmaking people or whatever, and i got so sick of all the references to "the valley"! The only person i thought was hot was Johnny, but he died. Then Marissa started whining even more, and by the end i found myself not caring about these stupid characters. If you want to watch a good show, try to watch the full season of My So-Called Life on dvd with Claire Danes and Jared Leto. I have honestly never seen anything half as good as this, and Jared Leto makes Seth and Ryan look like they don't even deserve to breathe the same air as him. Best. Show. Ever.

I admit total OC obsessive fan from the start. Met the cast, watfched tapings, had O.C. viewing parties.... the whole bit. My bday gift was a signed pic from Adam Brody ( swoon). But season 3 really saw the show going sooo down hill, from a show with great plots and catchy one liners, to barely keeping my attention ( which is saying a lot). I always hated the 'marissa' character, and since I know for a fact that they had serious contract issue with Mischa Barton I doubt she will ever return to the show (WHOA!!). But I hate the turn the show has taken. Hopefully if they focus on Seth and Summer, really the only reason anyone should watch it now, then they can return this show to the glory it once had.

Jake wrote:

They probably killed Marissa off because Mischa wanted to move on with her movie career, which is a good move for her in my opinion. The first season was golden, but it's been getting progressively worse ever since. I thought they'd get better without Marissa, but the latest few episodes are just plain bad. If they'd actually had Ryan kill Volchek, things might have actually "heated up" as they keep proclaiming in their commercials each week. But they're stuck on making him a sissie now.

I used to LOVE this show, but come on, after viewing the first 3 eps, you got to do the right thing, FOX, and put a fork in this baby, its DONE! Killing off Marissa could only harm this, and this season, once again, has let us down, AGAIN! Ryan starts out as a fighter in Ep 1, by Ep 3 he wimps out? Summer as a tree hugging lib? We got one in Sandy-how about a conservative character? After all, the kids in the O.C. got more money than God! Its just over with here, sad to say! Whens 24 and AI start?

Elizabeth wrote:

I must be in the minority, because I believe the following: 1) Mischa Barton could act--really well at times; 2) killing off Marissa doesn't destroy the show--one of the things that's struck me this season is how well they are portraying the absolute depth of pain people are in rather than giving it lip service for half an episode before moving on. It's realistic that when you lose someone it affects your life for a long time to come. 3) I like what's been going on with Summer--I think it's exactly what happens in reality that when someone goes off to college they change and grow, which is what has happened with her--the old Summer is still in there, but she's finding that some of the new Summer is really her, too. Cool. 4) I didn't expect it, but I'm actually a bit touched by the hopeless (or is it?) crush Taylor has on Ryan. I did want to see the sexy French husband, though. 5) I don't think people going off to college is going to hurt this--either they'll all end up magically at the same school (Berkeley?) or they'll all be on airplanes so much it won't matter. 6) Finally, anything they decide to do this season will be better than some of the stupid storylines from before: namely, Marissa and Oliver; Marissa and Johnny. Feeble.

Dan wrote:

Here's the deal, people.
The O.C. started off great. Very rarely does a show come along as summer TV filler and really grab your attention the way it did. The first couple episodes were tremendous, and the following episodes, i.e. the rest of the first season, continued to shine (despite the unfortunate episodes with Oliver, which in retrospect weren't so bad).
The second season struggled, though. No one can deny that turning Marissa into a lesbian and killing off Caleb (the J.R. of the show and easily the most morally complex character) were flawed choices. Ultimately, that's what would bring about the death of this show: bad choices.
I won't even comment on the third season, because the truth is, if you watch it and are unable to realize how truly flawed it was, then you have no business watching TV in the first place. The cherry on top was Marissa's death...by that I don't mean why it was done, but HOW it was done. Her death was one of the single most ridiculous sequences ever depicted on television. It was embarassing and showed, above all, how the show had become a CHARICATURE of it's former creative and trend-setting self.
Now, there's no denying that this season has had some quality moments. Taylor has become a breath of fresh air for the show, and thus makes it watchable again. But the fact remains that the show remains UNEVEN at best, as the mainstay characters/relationship of Summer & Seth lacks any sort of energy it once had. Like the actors in real life, the love is gone...in the show's case, it just happens to be the writing's fault.
In the end, one can only appreciate the fact that an out-of-left-field teen show managed to keep up truckin' for almost 4 complete seasons. It's an impressive feat in today's TV climate, and, more over, the fact that the show will ALWAYS exist as culture-defining show during its height is something the creators, actors, and us, as fans, should be proud of. So, in appreciation of the way it welcomed us in the first place: "Thank you for The O.C., bitch!"

The show is not being cancelled because of Marissa being killed off, give me a break, Micsha Barton was the worst actress on there, that is why she is doing stage in England now, that is where actors go to get better, she will be there a while I suspect!

The worst thing the writers did was bring Katelyn on, annoying, and just alienates us adults who watch it. Taylor is a little hotty, and she can act. So get over Marissa being dead, besides if she did not want to be there she would bring the show down anyway, I will say at least she had the insight to get off the sinking ship. But long live Peter Gallagher and Adam Brody, those two make the entire show for me.

Killing off Marissa looked to be a good thing, an interesting twist, but I think it ultimatly made the ratings go down. Between Seth Cohen and johnny, last season was a pretty good one, though I have to say the first and second seasons were the best. Thursday nights on TV are gonna suck without the OC. Everyone I know is pretty mad about the OC being cancelled....maybe if the show got better as opposed to getting worse, they ratings might not have dropped so much. Bottom line is, Fox sucks and if a new teen drama isnt made soon, we all might be in for some prettyboring Thursday nights.

It was okay, definitely fully of the angst-y ness that usually turns me off--especially the cliched Ryan who needed to use violence to protect everyone and the whiny Marisa. But I kept watching. When Marisa died, I felt sorry for Ryan, but I was actually glad that the show could go in a new direction other than the worn out "Ryan and Marisa" aspect. Now, in Season 3, with Taylor and Ryan growing closer, when I actually genuinely love the show, they cancel it. It's tragic, really. Now, I haven't seen season 1 or 2, but....it's a sick joke that right when the show is at it's peak it is decided to be pulled from the air.

Argh. This show is great! why would they cancel it? I'll admit that the 3rd season was starting to get really predictable and overly dramatic, but the 4th season is so good! Taylor is awesome, so much more interesting then Marissa ever was. Ryan finally gets to be normal and more seth-ish, and everything is funny! gah!

after reading all these comments i really dont care what people have to say. i think this is the dumbest thing to ever happen. the oc is the greatest thing known to mannn. marissa is not needed to make the show. ryan is all that matters. the show is still good and it definitely shouldnt be cancled. i have no idea what you people are talking about the third season was just as good as the rest. marissa needed to die. she did everything she could have on the show. her character was everything possible. all i have to say is. this shit is retarted and someone is gunna die if this show gets cancled. RYAN AND TAYLOR BABY. k bye.

Hey Bitches!!!!
Marvin and Tamara here!!!! We thought the O.C rocked!! We have both had plastic surgery to make ourselves look like Mischa Barton and Adam Brody. Some times we act out scenes from the O.C and pretend that we are the characters of Marrisa and Seth. We perform this for our friends and family and any one else who will watch. One time at O.C. camp we hired out a hall and performed for the town. We live in Sunnyvale California, and we have a large fan base here. We are having a memorial service for the O.C at Sunnyvale Public Library at 8pm on January 10. All O.C fans welcome. Please let us know if you plan on coming, so that we can prepare for enough numbers. O.C rules forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LONG LIFE TO THE OC!!!

Killing Marissa was a terrible idea. Even though it created a huge emotional episode, and they wonder why people aren't watching their show. The millions of people who have been watching the show for the 4 years it has been playing, have dropped emensly. Each year, ratings were lower. I think that killing Marissa was the last thread. It was hard to still watch the show but i remained loyal to it anyway. The OC's very last episode will air Feb 22 Thursday at its usual time. I suggest you all watch it. It will be a very good closure.

uh please the show died when they killed off marissa just admit she was the bomb of teh show, her and ryans relationship, her and summers freindship and the orginal fanatastic 4. trying to replace her with taylor and even killing her off in teh first place was a stupid ridiculouse mistake and josh is now paying for it. god teh show just makes me want to hurl now. it is sooooooooooooo boring without marissa. seriousley what were they thinking killing her. o well thier loss......................................

This show was excellent during the first season. Second was ok, the fans continued watching it. The third season was so-so but the show had lost A LOT of viewers by then. Then came the fourth and last season, which basically, SUCKED ASS. After Mischa Barton decided to leave the show and try the movie industry, the producers had to make Marissa died. After that, it seemed like they were trying to hard just to find a story for the show.

Ok, so what if they made some mistakes with murdering marissa, oc can get back on their feet without her! Someone else can take her place. And they have MANY more viewers than 4 million(which is still an ok amount). How many people outside America watch OC??? I'm from Cyprus and everyone knows of the OC here, we just have to watch it on dvd though when it comes. Why not just redo the 3rd season adn continue? Easier said than done i guess

Kris wrote:

Don't even TRY to cancel the OC!!!!! I love it and so do my friends! PLEASE don't stop filming it in mid-season. At least finish the third season. OC is like the best show I've ever watched...

HOO-f'n-RAY !!!

This show is NOTHING to do about life "behind the orange curtain" .... how about a show that deals with the O.C. back in the day [late 70's - mid 80's] when teens were struggling to seek their identity during the Ronald Reagan in the White House Years without being killed due to their alternative appearance/dress ?

The O.C. is more than just a small population in Newport Beach / Corona Del Mar ... it encompasses the working class from Huntington Beach to Westminister [with diverse ethnic groups who are loyal to their communities] !!!

Bring back BUFFY [or MILLENIUM] ~

UGHHH IM SO MAD THE OC GOT CANCELLED. yeahh marissa dying was def. a BIG mistake. but um now i hear the same producer of the oc is going to make a show based on the gossip girl books? yeahh that would be cool but hes gonna have to find the right people or else its gonna suck.

olivia cohen wrote:

well since they killed marisa cooper the show has gone down hill and they changed the charicters like summer hippie soo diferent, ryan cold hearted. its all changed!!!!!!!

Junior wrote:

People are definitely not giving the show a chance now that Marissa is gone. The show, I believe, has gotten a lot better since the third season in a different sort of way. The show is focusing more on the complex relationships rather than the excess drama from previous seasons. Yes I do wish Ryan would punch a few more people because that's what made his character to be. Oh well, that's a wrap.

asher wrote:

well the O.C. DID get cancelled. I thought the thing that really killed it was Ben makenzies (Ryan)lack of character. He's just kind of blah. no sense of humor. Very monotone. Plus, the whole back and forth thing in most of the relationships is redundant and boring. Is it just me or was every season a carbon copy of the previous one? I did however like the show for its good qualities, and am sad to see it go.

I LOVE the OC I feel like crying cos they're cancelling it Ryan is soo Hot I'll miss seeing him every week I was upset at Marissa dying but I don't think tht the show should end its not been as interesting as before in the third season but I think this season looks really gd I love it Please dont Cancel it Change ur mind!!!:(

Crystal wrote:

I totally agree, i mean the first season...wow, The OC was like my air, i needed it, and the second season, i still looked foward to seeing it every week, then by mid 2nd season, or beginning of 3rd season, i was just like F this, it really dissapointed me, w/ or w/out marissa, it was going downhill, they cant save it now, its to late, I read on TMZ.com they could have said it was all just a dream, as a way to try and bring Marissa back, now that would have been so sad, it would be funny, ah well, I just hope that finally all those OC wannabee's, will disappear just like the show they modeled. That means you Laguna Beach.

Sophie wrote:

I used to like the OC, I still kinda do, but I think it just lost its...i dont know, flavor. It got blah, it got predictable, it got just plain stupid, and I dont want to bash on it, because it really was a great show, but you cant help but the think, what in the hell were these writers smoking when they wrote this stuff? I dont know, it is sad its ending, but then again, everything that has a beginning has an end, The OC just came to its end sooner than i expected, even if the beginning was awesome.

Selene wrote:

Hi, and so here's the end of OC. From the begging when the two lovers were separated which totally KILLED THE DAMN SHOW!...lol sorry i honestly had to let it out, watching all of the episodes one after another shows a whole different view from seeing one episode a week, well the fact of the matter is, although OC is getting desperado with ideas and such, and the call for cancellation has already been declared, they could have still made a come back, start over and bring back Misha for we all love her being with Ryan. OKAY DAMMIT DON'T CANCELL! ='( The OC:v2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seth, Summer, Marissa, & Ryan those guys were the best people put on a show, c'mon the hottest people, the greatest idea OC RETURNS! DO IT!

Yea so what if Misha got killed the show is still great no matter what!! i mean she didnt make the show..she was a big part of it but whatever i guess it doesnt really matter anymore cause its been cancelled anyways!! I Still Think This Show IS The Best SHow Yet and I am very sad to be seying it go...

I really liked Season one and two wasn't too bad...but after that, horrible! The big mistake was putting the O.C. on the same night and time as Gray's Anatomy (Best show on TV)Of course it wouldn't last! It's to bad, because it really had two of tv's hottest guys, Adam Brody and Ben Mckenzie!! Now they should get spots on Grays Anatomy and make that show even better than it already is!!

Tiffany wrote:

I really really love The OC me and my husband started watching it when it first came out we just started dating and haven't missed an episode since we love it. We do believe that killing Marissa was bad for the show but they have made it worth watching here in the last few episodes, PLEASE BRING IT BACK

Hayley wrote:

The very first season of the OC was amazing. So was the second one as well, but when the middle of the third season started it just started going downhill. I mean, I still watch it every Thursday, of course. When they killed off Mischa, the show probably lost millions of viewers. But it pretty much revolves around Seth and Summer now. Even though I don't like how Summer started to turn into a hippie.

MIke Dizzle wrote:

People People People What You Need To Get Past Is That Marissa was killed off so what she doesnt carry the show anyway It all about Seth and Summer at the end of the thrid season anyway so who cares this show is still badass ethier way so who cares if the killed off Marissa I was more shocked with Jonny getting killed

Paul wrote:

The OC was rather great in the early series but killing off marissa just destroyed it; even if she wasn't interesting! Personally I thought it was the older cast that made the show such as Julie and Caleb, lets face it the show would have sucked without them!

Arrrrrrrr The Oc was the bomb now it's gone!!! Even tho Ryan is the main character, killing of Marissa really sucked coz she is 1 of the main characters too.
