My Favorite TV Moms

In conjunction with Bravo's season premiere of "Real Housewives" this Tuesday, I decided to choose my favorite TV housewives.

Remember the debates about whether guys preferred Jeannie or Samantha? Boys have been asking themselves if they're more into Ginger or Maryann for years. I predict that after this smokin' second season of "Houswives" gets underway, men across the country will be trying to pick which Housewife is the top-rated MILF (remember American Pie?). For me, it's "Real Housewives of Orange County"'s Lauri.

I love Lauri. She has a kid in and out of reform school, and in season one, she could cheer herself up by going out to the Playboy mansion or dating her neighbor's estranged boyfriend. Now, that's just a hot mom.

Other attractive housewives in TV (both then and now) include: Teri Hatcher's Susan on "Desperate Housewives," she has her own klutzy appeal. Mel Harris' "Thirtysomething" wife Hope Steadman was so attractive I overlooked her chronic whining.

I remember a friend shocking me by saying that Patricia Richardson from "Home Improvement" was his favorite MILF. She doesn't appeal to me, but Patricia Heaton's Deborah from "Everybody Loves Raymond" got hotter as the show progressed (maybe due to Heaton's announced plastic surgeries).

You forgot 70s FLorida Evans, who not only was a strong presence/equal with a husband, but had to face the problems of keeping her family together after his death. I probably identify more with her because like the Evans family, we lost my father when I was 9 and my mom raised us on her own. It certainly wasn't easy balancing taking care of kids and home with work, and having private life but she raised 5 kids on her own. We may not be sports figures or world leaders, but we're happy and productive members of society.
