Forget i-tunes playlists, the following is a TV Lover list of my all-time favorite gone-too-soon TV shows.
10. "Grosse Pointe" (FOX)
Darren Starr's parody of his 90210 creation was ahead of its time. He skewered the off-screen tabloid personas of Luke, Tori, Jason and especially Shannen. Particularly funny was Tori's bulimia and Shannen's general misbehavior. It was a cable show lost on Fox. Worth checking out on DVD.
9. "The Comeback" (HBO)
Similarly to "Grosse Pointe," this was an unflinching look at a TV show through the eyes of Lisa Kudrow, a faded 80's celebrity making a comeback as the wacky neighbor in a sitcom which simultaneously was being taped as a reality show. Critics and fans fled from this show after the depressing first few episodes, but the show tremendously grew into a fascinating look at our "Surreal Life" culture of stars willing to go to degrading extremes to stay in the game. The whole supporting cast was equally strong.

Wait -- nearly April and one of trash TV's greatest old rituals, MTV's Spring Break coverage, is only featured in about three half-hour shows in rotation right now. How did this underrated big event disappear from the MTV landscape? Did you see TRL host Damien Fahey guest host Live with Regis and Kelly while Reege was recovering from his surgery? He did a poor man's Spring Break on Regis and Kelly?! Wait -- you have to watch Regis and Kelly for Spring Break clips?
